MOROCCO KASBAH AND DUNES

Arrive in Marrakech, Morocco’s famous Red City; keep your eyes peeled at Menara Airport
for the Morocco Dynamic Tours sign for your transfer to the hotel. The adventure begins
tonight. Feel free to explore Marrakech before your welcome meeting, but make sure you are
back in time to meet your crew. After introductions, your guide will review the details of your
tour. Please note that normal check-in times apply at our start hotels, but you can usually
store your luggage for the day if you arrive early.

Following an early pick-up from your hotel in Marrakech, meet your driver and start your
adventure with an amazing drive over the High Atlas Mountains. Crossing Tichka pass,
2260M, the highest point during our 8-day tour, we continue to Ounila Valley for lunch. After
lunch, we drive to Ouarzazate town, which is home to Atlas Film Studios, where many films
have been shot over the years, including Lawrence of Arabia and Gladiator. Overnight in the
Hotel.

Breakfast at the hotel, then departure to Merzouga dunes with a stop in Agdez Oasis.
Observe the irrigation system and specific oasis vegetation, and take your lunch in Alnif
village before continuing your journey south towards the Sahara Desert and the town of
Merzouga. There will be time for camel riding to reach your Camp in the middle of nowhere.
Overnight in a Berber Camp.

We’ll rise early today, get on our trusty camels, and return to Merzouga. We’ll say farewell to
our humped friends and head through a stone desert to the stunning Todra Gorge.
Wedged between massive cliff walls, the gorge is filled with a green oasis of palm trees. This
serene spot is great for hiking, relaxing on the river’s edge, or sampling local Berber
delicacies.
From here, we’ll head to our hotel in Tinghir Canyon.

Today, we’ll travel along the “Route of 1000 Kasbahs,” a scenic drive takes you past ancient
Ruins, austere mountains, and valleys of palm trees. After lunch in Ouarzazat, we continue
to the fascinating and beautiful Ait Ben Haddou, an excellent example of a kasbah. Here,
we’ll take a guided tour of this UNESCO World Heritage site. Of all the remaining Kasbahs in
Morocco, the walls and interior of this area are the most intact. The Kasbah still houses a few
families, but many now live in the adjacent village. Like many of the earthen-built fortresses
in Ouarzazat, Aït Ben Haddou has been used in many film and television productions like
Gladiator, Babel, and Game of Thrones.

Today, take your bus to Toubkal National Park through the snow-capped Atlas Mountains.
Across the Tichka pass, 2260M above the sea, enjoy great panoramic views over the
mountain range and the road ahead, snaking down the mountainside. Late in the afternoon,
we will reach the remote village of Imlil, popular for hikers to the rooftop of the high Atlas
Mountains. Overnight in a guest house with a Berber family.
