Day 1: CASABLANCA
The adventure begins tonight. Feel free to explore before your welcome meeting, but ensure
you’re back in time to meet the crew. After introductions, your guide will review the details of
your tour. Please note that normal check-in times, 3:00 PM, apply at all hotels, but you can
usually store your luggage for the day if you arrive early.

Day 2: CASABLANCA VOLUBILIS AND FES
Start early and drive through the rolling hills to the Roman ruins of Volubilis. Take a guided tour
of the best-preserved Roman ruins in this part of Northern Africa, now a UNESCO World
Heritage Site. Then, continue to Fez, one of Morocco’s most interesting cities. Upon arrival, take
some free time to explore. opt to experience a traditional hammam and get to know the locals.
We will stay in the new city of Fez, built by the French during their Protectorate of Morocco. This
area has the feel of a French provincial town, with its cafés, restaurants, and wide boulevards.
Head off for a Moroccan feast at one of the many restaurants and finish the night with some
famous Moroccan mint tea.

Day 3: FES
We’ll begin today with a half-day walking tour of Fes medina, one of the world’s largest medinas,
with more than 9000 winding streets covering 365 hectares. The medina has buildings dating
back to the 9th century and 350 mosques that are still in use today.
Enter through one of the great gates into the chaos. Explore the artisans’ quarters and the many
carpenters, bakers, butchers, and spice sellers. A highlight is a visit to the famous Fes tannery,
with great views over the men hard at work treating and dyeing the different hides.
Then, we’ll have a traditional, home-cooked Moroccan lunch that benefits rural Moroccan
women and children. Afterwards, you’ll have the rest of the day to yourself
In the evening, you can have dinner in a converted riad, complete with local specialties, music,
and belly dancing.

Day 4: FES TO MERZOUGA DUNES
Continue your journey south, over Ziz Valley, and through the cedar forests of the Middle Atlas
Mountains. On the way, you can appreciate the architecture of Ifrane (known as “Little
Switzerland” or “Moroccan Switzerland”). Head toward the sea of sand of Erg Chebbi, where
some dunes are more than 600 feet tall, meet your camel, and hop aboard to trek to your
evening’s accommodation, a Bedouin-style tent. Race to the top of a sand dune to watch the
desert sunset over the dunes before returning to your site for dinner and a campfire under the
starry night sky.

Day 5: MERZOUGA DUNES TO TODRA GORGE
We’ll rise early today, get on our trusty camels, and return to Merzouga. We’ll say farewell to our
humped friends and head through a stone desert to the stunning Todra Gorge.
Wedged between massive cliff walls, the gorge is filled with a green oasis of palm trees. This
serene spot is great for hiking, relaxing on the river’s edge, or sampling local Berber delicacies.
From here, we’ll head to our hotel in Tinghir Canyon.

Day 6: TODGHA GORGE TO AIT BEN HADDOU VILLAGE.
Today, we'll travel along the “Route of 1000 Kasbahs” to the thriving town of Ouarzazat for a
lunch stop. This town is home to Atlas Film Studios, where many films have been shot over the
years, including Lawrence of Arabia and Gladiator.
Continue to the fascinating and beautiful Ait Ben Haddou, an excellent example of a kasbah.
Here, we’ll take a guided tour of this UNESCO World Heritage site. Of all the remaining Kasbahs
in Morocco, the walls and interior of this area are the most intact. The Kasbah still houses a few
families, but many now live in the adjacent village. Like many of the earthen-built fortresses in
Ouarzazat, Aït Ben Haddou has been used in many film and television productions like
Gladiator, Babel, and Game of Thrones.

DAY 7: AIT BEN HADDOU TO MARRAKECH.
Today we’ll head to Marrakech. The journey to Marrakesh includes breathtaking views
throughout the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2260m).
In Marrakesh, we'll head into the maze of tiny streets and alleyways of the ancient Medina to get
a taste of everyday life in Marrakech. Shop to your heart’s content in the souks. Find spices,
traditional jellabas, slippers, or famous Moroccan lanterns. The selection is exhaustive. Bargain
away’s definitely part of the fun!
Afterward, visit Djemaa El Fna Square in the evening to see musicians and street performers
gather. Don’t leave without indulging in a feast at the famous food stalls!

Day 8: EXPLORE MARRAKECH
Today, you can be devoted to sightseeing in Marrakech, the imperial city of the South. You will
visit the Koutoubia Mosque and admire its tower, the 16th-century Saadian Tombs, all decorated
in colorful mosaic tiles, and the 19th-century Bahia Palace with its beautiful eastern Architecture.
You will have a break for lunch. In the afternoon, you will have time to explore the fascinating
Souks (local markets) and the narrow alleys around the Djemâa El-Fna Square. In the evening,
you will be enchanted with snake charmers, singers, acrobats, dancers, narrators, and
storytellers – moving from one group to another, and then we’ll spend the night in a hotel.
